We don't know squat!

I found that title - just wanted to own up to that right away - but loved it, so I am using it for this post!  If you click on the title, it will take you to a WONDERFUL website that will educate you fully on the benefits of squatting and how it can help prevent all kinds of ailments and disease.  They also sell a pretty cool "squatter".

It has been days and days since I have properly posted - for those of you impatiently waiting :), I apologize.  It has been a very hectic week.
Okay, so here goes - I start with this quote:

"Fecal stagnation is the major cause of colon disease."
YIKES!  :0
And since this is the case of so many people, I present an article on the benefits of
"squatting", as promised.  I will offer a bibliography at the end for those who want to read more about this area of health.  This
is an area often ignored but is SO IMPERATIVE to know about.

Squatting should be our birth right, but we are trained out of it at a very early age.  It is amazing how far off of nature we have gone.

Up until the 19th century or so, humans used the squatting posture for elimination.  In fact, we squatted repeatedly throughout the day as dictated by a ground based living environment - to socialize, work, and defecate.
Chair like toilets had only been used by the royalty and the disabled.  When the throne like toilet was invented, the designers had no knowledge of human physiology and sincerely believed they were improving people's lives.   They overlooked the fact that the sitting position makes elimination difficult and incomplete, and forces one to strain!

The full squat results in compression in the lower abdomen from the thigh.  The right
thigh will compress the cecum (the origin of the colon), mechanically pushing the feces uphill into the tranverse colon, while the left thigh compresses the descending colon, moving feces into the sigmoid colon and ultimately the rectum.

Seven Advantages of Squatting:
1. Makes elimination faster, easier and more complete.  This helps prevent fecal stagnation, a prime factor in colon cancer, appendicitis, and inflammatory bowel disease.
2. Protects the nerves that control the prostate, bladder and uterus from becoming stretched and damaged.
3. Securely seals the ileocecal valve, between the colon and the small intestine.  In the conventional sitting position, this valve is unsupported and often leaks during evacuation, contaminating the small intestine.
4. Relaxes the puborectalis muscle, which normally chokes the rectum in order to maintain continence.
5. Uses the thighs to support the colon and prevent straining.  Chronic straining on the toilet can cause hernias, diverticulosis, and pelvic organ prolapse.
6. Squatting is a highly effective, non invasive treatment for hemorrhoids, as shown by published clinical research.
7. For pregnant women, squatting avoids pressure on the uterus when using the toilet.  Daily squatting helps prepare one for a more natural delivery.

People in developing countries who primarily  use the squatting posture for elimination suffer rarely from the following diseases that are so prevalent in the Western World:  appendicitis, colon cancer, prostate disorders, diverticulosis, bladder incontinence, hemorrhoids, and inflammatory bowel disease.

It is so simple to just start squatting.  Everything you could read about points to the natural intelligence in this.  Yet so many people feel this is "radical", when in actuality, sitting on a toilet is radical!  Just because it is what we are used to or how our culture does it, doesn't make it right or ideal.

It is often suggested, and I suggest this to some clients, to use a step stool to place under the feet to mimic the posture of the full squat.  It is an improvement over sitting, to be sure, but is still far from ideal, as having the feet elevated pushes the weight back into the buttocks as opposed to having direct weight on your feet, which is where you want the weight to rest to facilitate full elimination and the use of the thighs pressing against the colon.

Being a yoga teacher, I know that many people have a very difficult time with the squat position.  We can train our muscles to open so that squatting becomes comfortable again.  For people challenged by the full squat, a foot stool is a good start as long as you lean forward to mimic the pressure on the colon and weight on the feet.  I will be posting a link where you can purchase an attachment to your toilet to so you can fully squat on the toilet comfortably, or you can do what my husband has been doing for years, and which  I also use:  squat directly onto the toilet seat and enjoy nature's wonder!

Remember, elimination should take ten seconds, and require no strain.  Straining can potentially cause all kinds of issues, and squatting will naturally prevent this.  Of course, improvements in diet - eating a whole foods diet that is ideally free of processed junk will start you on your way to better health, and of course, regular COLONICS and CLEANSING programs a few times a year is like a tune up to the body.  You don't have to do it but your engine will run much smoother and you will feel so much better as a result.

Excellent health is your birthright.  Why don't you start right now?  Start squatting today!  You can fit this in several times a day, start to open up the joints, the muscles, use a wall if you need to lean on something, place a blanket underneath your heels, and practice placing more and more weight on the four corners of your feet.

There is so much more I could write, and I did not even touch upon Dr. William Welles' wonderful article on the benefits of squatting, so do some google searches and enjoy educating yourself on squatting and watch your health improve as a result.
PLUS, squatting is great for stretching the lower back!

Colonics 101: Squatting - the ideal elimination posture

My next post will be about squatting and why it is an essential posture for elimination.  Those of you who practice yoga (and those who do not) should consider adding this posture to your daily routine.

I will go into more detail in the next day or two - stay tuned!  Prepare to be very enlightened.
Squatting may very well change your life.

Colonics and Diet, and a bit of gas

My last post I had mentioned that I would be posting about gas and how colonics can help - well, I actually already WROTE that post one post earlier!  Oops!

Well, the truth is, I wanted to have an excuse to post that great picture - you know, the "do not fart" sign?
Here is another one, to the right of this.
To catch up on that post, click HERE.
I promise it is fascinating reading, especially Matt Monarch's excellent article on the Blood Gas Theory and why colon hydrotherapy is essential for taking your health to a whole new level, which I am all bout!
For more in-depth explanation of the Blood Gas Theory, you  must read Mr. Monarch's excellent book, Raw Success.

So now onto diet.
There are so many books out there telling you about the BEST way
to eat.  I truly believe that if you can tune
into your body, than your body will let you know what is GOOD,  and what is NOT GOOD, or as I prefer to call it, "NOT OPTIMAL".

This does not mean that if you have a craving for salty chips your body needs it.  Uh uh.  Sorry about that.  It's a good story you can feed to yourself but it is not true.  Usually the body will crave imbalanced food choices if you are constantly feeding it imbalanced food - such as processed starches, sugars, packaged food, fried food, etc.  It is a vicious cycle that CAN be broken.  I have done it.  And I feel better than ever - and am much more sensitive to the NOT OPTIMAL food, wh
ich for me now is anything processed - even a rice cracker doesn't sit so well.

For me, I am discovering that SIMPLE WHOLE FOODS, (NOT the store) are what
my body, mind and spirit thrives on and enjoys.  My body seems to love raw fruits and vegetables the most, with small amount of nuts and seeds.

My husband and I start our day with water with juice from half a lemon (to cleanse the liver) and then shortly after that we juice a lovely GREEN JUICE with our Omega Juicer.  I love this juicer - it is a single auger juicer that juices

leafy greens beautifully.  It is a great first juicer and very easy to clean.  I have heard the twin gear juicers are even better, so when we eventually upgrade, it will be with the Samson Kempo Juicer, which I have heard is excellent.

The benefits of juicing are too numerous to list here.
To name a few:
1. Juicing helps you absorb all the nutrients from the veggies
2. Juicing allows you to consume optimal amount of veggies in an efficient, easy to digest manner
3. Juicing allows for plenty of VARIETY.
Explore the wonders of juicing - click HERE.

Occasionally I get harried in the morning, and that is when I whip up a heaping tablesppon of SUPER GREEN FOOD with water.  Sometimes I have the green mix with a green juice, too, for the added benefits of what is in the green powder, which usually has a base of barley grass, wheat grass, chlorella, etc, depending on the brand.  I like to switch them up from time to time.  You can see a wonderful assortment of Super Green Food Powders HERE.

The green juice tides me over, and then later we typically have a GREEN SMOOTHIE, of which I gave a few recipes in my last post.  I often add soaked CHIA SEEDS to my smoothies for extra protein, fibre and hydrating properties, and often add a nice creamy dollop of coconut oil to further my energy.
This combo stabilizes my blood sugar and can keep me going all day, and my tummy is SOOOOOOOO happy!

Okay, I want to write more but my body is telling me to get off the computer and let my eyes (and hands) rest.

I am always open to any questions and comments!

In light!

Colonics and Gas-Spring is the perfect time for cleansing!

IT'S SPRING!!!

The change of the seasons is an ideal time to cleanse and do a series of colonics.

Why is this?

The change of the seasons often has us eating differently, changing our physical activity, and son. Spring has traditionally been a time to cleanse the liver and many people are known to do liver flushes at this time, along with colon cleansing, using either oxygen
supplements such as Colosan

As always, colon hydrotherapy is an adjunct to any cleansing program and to a healthy lifestyle.

The sense of relief one gets simply from the waste and gas being moved out of the system is IMMENSE, and for those embarking on a journey towards greater health and vitality, colonics are essential.
Colonic Irrigations allow you to develop a personal relationship with what you eat and the effect it has on your body, and on your organs of elimination - primarily, the colon.

I quote (and paraphrase) my favourite blogger, Matt Monarch:
"Colon Hydrotherapy IIIIIIIIIIIISSSSSSSS my speciality. Ladies and Gentlemen, YES...my passion in life is telling people to, "Shoot water up their bums". This is not an ego thing, by any means...I get no personal benefit from "preaching" this.

Dr. Fred Bisci has seen over 25, 000 clients in his 50 years of experience. Thousands and thousands of people have had tremendous results and not one of the
m has run into s SINGLE problem. We have both seen people just SLIGHTLY improve their diet and do masses of colon cleansing, and heal from degenerative diseases. In my opinion, it is the number one thing anyone can do for their health and the most important thing to do to heal from degenerative disease. If you can get a chance, study the blood gas theory here. AND YES, in my ~!!!!!!Passionate!!!!!!!~HEART-F
ELT opinion, it is COMPLETELY SAFE.

I can give you emails from hundreds of people who will state that enemas and colonics saved their life.
Enema dependency is, in my opinion, an absolute falsehood. Dr. Norman Walker and Ann Wigmore both state that enemas and colonics STRENGTHEN, rather than weaken, peristalsis. I personally have been experimenting with this sort of thing for 8 years and I don't have a problem having a bowel movement (Xell: I have had the same experience - in fact, pooping has become nearly a spiritual experience!!! :D). There could be confusion around this sort of thing because people don't understand what is happening to them.

Sometimes after someone gets a colonic, they don't need to go to the bathroom for 48 hours, which is completely normal and okay (Xell: for some, it can be even longer than this, as it will reflect your own transit time). You just cleaned out this 5 to 6 foot receptacle of waste. Very soon, you will be eliminating normally again. Many fasters (eating no solid food for extended periods of time) doing regular enemas or colonics report solid waste coming out of them the entire time period of their fast!

Where is all is this solid waste coming from???

This issue doesn't lay in becoming DEPENDENT on enemas. When someone does enemas, they can get addicted to that blissed clean feeling...AND...they cleanse more rapidly than others....the cells are much more c
ontracted on a "cleaner" person, especially someone who practices colon cleansing frequently; they have less margin for error in their consistent food choices. Their hundreds of trillions of thousands of cells are in s small, contracted state with less internal obstruction than the majority of people. Therefore, they are affected by fermentative gas produces by certain foods more, because there is less space for this gas inside their structure, while someone with bigger cells won't notice a thing with the same amount of gas. Read the Blood Gas Theory for a deeper understanding here.

A lot of interesting things to mull over!
I recently posted about Coconut Oil
and so many of you know how much I love it. A friend recently asked me which ones I recommended - I love to try different brands and I have to say that my top favourites are Nutiva Virgin Coconut Oil and Wilderness Family Naturals. The taste of both brands is exquisite and works wonders as a face and body moisturizer, as well. Other great brands are Tropical Traditions Virgin Coconut Oil and Cocopura Virgin Coconut Oil.

I promised the poo rating system - that will be the next post! :)

Until next time...

Why we need Colonics in Connecticut

"There is no ailment, sickness or disease that will not respond to treatment quicker and more effectively than it will after the administration of a series of colonic irrigations."
Dr. Norman Walker

I am an admirer of Dr. Normal Walker, who was a raw food pioneer and a Colon Irrigation enthusiast, as well as a juicing enthusiast.  His book, Colon Health is a must read for anyone interested in vitality and greater health.   You can see his entire collection here.

Matt Monarch, the Raw Food educator, often posts about the necessity for colon cleansing with colonics in his wonderful and always interesting blog.
He writes:
"When you cleanse the colon you definitely provide a greater opportunity for waste in the small intestines to dump into the colon.  The most important thing about colon hydrotherapy is that it eliminates gas.  That gas pressure is what constipates our cells from detoxing on a cellular level.  You can sometimes feel this gas pressure in your head and other areas of the body.  Most people get MASSIVE relief after doing a colonic.  If you have improved your diet in any way consistently for a reasonable amount of time, then it's a GREAT idea to do a colonic and there is a GREAT chance that you too will experience a massive amount of RELIEF!

Relief is right.  Colonics coupled with a whole foods diet, or even better, a mostly raw vegan diet, will take your health to a whole new level!

Bye for now.

All About POO and colonics, too

I love talking about poo.  It's what I do.  And it's fun and entertaining, too.

I think I may be a poet and did not know it...

So why poo, you ask?  Well, we all do it.  Even Oprah does it!  And whether we are shy about it, talk about it, look at it or are in denial about it, it's a fact of life.  If you ain't pooping, you ain't feeling too good!

Enter Colonic Hydrotherapy, Colonics, Colonic Irrigation, High Enemas, ETC...all different names for essentially the same thing:  an internal bath for your colon, also known as the large intestine.

The Colon is the final part of the digestive tract and is located in the abdomen.  Its main functions are to eliminate waste and absorb water.  It is five feet long and 2 1/2 inches in diameter.  It is inhabited by billions of friendly bacteria (hopefully) which assist in detoxifying waste, synthesizing certain vitamins and minerals, and helping us guard against infection.

So back to poo.  How is it for you?  The average person is carrying anywhere from four to fifteen pounds of fecal matter inside their colon!  :0  If that is not scary, what is.  I know that I, for one, would want to get that stuff moving out as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Colonics are wonderful for this.  Most of us eat a far from impeccable diet and for our long term health and longevity, it is essential to do Colon Cleansing  once or twice a year.  You can learn more about Colon Health here.

Coming soon:  My very exciting and entertaining poo rating system.  Guaranteed to please.

And feel free to ask any questions!  I welcome all bums.

Ciao for now,
x.
